Heavy leather surrounds the smooth, heavy cream colored paper filling this blank journal. Each page was cut by hand and arranged to fit within. This paper has a very slight speckling that looks a little like tiny fibers. The first and last pages are textured end papers, made to appear as if they were hand made. They are gold on one side and parchment colored on the inside. The gold color compliments the metal decorations on the outside perfectly.
The leather cover is wonderful, thick green leather with a very smooth surface. This leather will age with time and, eventually look like antique leather. Scuff marks will help with the aging process so regular wear is a good thing. This cover wraps around the whole book and overlaps the front. It is secured with a lace and a green and gold Vintage button (the lace wraps around the button several times to hold securely). Also on the front is a small gold toned key. This key has a tiny red rhinestone in the center and represents Knowledge.
The book is bound by strong suede leather laces drawn through holes punched through the paper and the cover, tied around and knotted in the front for a secure binding.
This book is suitable for a journal, sketchbook, small Book of Shadows or just about anything else you might want to use it for, within reason.
